About Michael Reidy
Michael Reidy is Professor of History in the Department of History and Philosophy at Montana State University. He is the author of Tides of History: Ocean Science and Her Majesty’s Navy (Chicago, 2008), and co-author of Exploration and Science (ABC-Clio, 2006) and Communicating Science (Oxford, 2000). He is also the co-general editor of the ongoing nineteen-volume Correspondence of John Tyndall (Pittsburgh, 2016-) and recently co-edited a volume on Tyndall entitled The Age of Scientific Naturalism (P&C, 2014). His current research focuses on how the sport of mountaineering advanced the practice of science in the nineteenth century. He is interested in all things vertical.
